adam bloodline.rtf

Adam and Eve were the first people created by God. The genealogy of the sons Seth and Cain are described to highligh some of the important figures in the Bible that God would use to do His will. Taken from Genesis 4:17 for Cain and Genesis 5 for Seth.  Cain Killed Abel and for that he was dispelled into a life of a gypsy (wanderer).  Seth continued to have many children including the famous, Enoch, who we know had such a close relationship with God, that one day “he was no more” (Gen 5:24)  Noah also descended from the bloodline of Adam and Eve’s third child Seth. Noah, his wife and his three sons and daughter in law’s, were saved from the flood in which God destroys the earth (Gen 6).  His three sons will go on to produce children and a generation of nations that are documented in the Bible.

Abraham’s Bloodline

Terah, Abrahams father, had 3 sons and a daughter Sarai.   They lived in the Ur of Chaldeans (modern-day Iraq) before deciding to move to Canaan.  It seems that Terra’s son Haran died young (untimely) (Gen11:28) before the move and his father later names a city in where they stopover after his son, Haran.  Abram (later renamed Abraham by God) and his half sister Sarai (later renamed Sarah) marries and she gives birth to one son and heir – Isaac.  Abraham also had children with Sarah’s servant, a son Ismael and with his concubine Ketura, he had six more sons. Meanwhile Abraham’s brother Haran had 2 daughters and a son, Lot, before he died. It is Lot that travels with Abraham and Sarah to Canaan. The daughter Iscah marries and Milcah ends up marrying her uncle Nahor and has a son with him.  Lot also loses his wife (she is the one that turned into a salt pillar during the distruction of Soddom and Gomorra. (Gen 19) and his 2 daughters sleep with their father and each bear a son which would later become the notorious Moabite and Ammonite tribes.

Jacob’s bloodline – tribes of Israel

Isaac, son of Abraham, marries Rebecca who is a direct descenant from Milcah and Nahor’s son. Isaac and Rebecca has twin boys, Jacob and Esau and it is Jacob who would become the Father of the 12 tribes of Israel, God’s chosen nation, the Israeli people.

These are the 12 sons and the 12 tribes of Israel from the 4 wives of Jacob. Leah his first wife, her servant and concubine Zilpah, then sister of Leah, Rachel and her servant Bilhah whom he had 2 sons from as Rachel could not provide him any, but later she conceived the last of the two sons, first Joseph, then Benjamin. The stories of the tribes and their descendants are told in the Bible such as Moses and Aaron who was from the Levi tribe, Samson from the Dan tribe, King Saul who descended from the Benjamin tribe and David and Jesus himself who was a descendant from the Judah tribe. Joseph’s tribe is commonly referred to as the tribes of Manasseh and Ephraim – his sons.
